The tractor should be 12 volt. Power steering and two stage clutch for PTO were options (not standard) on some 1700s but I don't know about that year. ....

It's common enough for me to switch numbers around, but I think the question is about a Ford 2000 that has 1700 hours on it.

A 2000 is a '60's tractor that probably doesn't have the bells 'n whistles mentioned. Many of them are still in service and 1700 hours doesn't seem like much. I think it probably was originally 6V but conversion to 12V is common. Lots of troubles with 6V - 12V conversions and some people say 6V systems work just fine. Without wishing to detract from this board, the Ford forum at Yesterday's Tractors specializes in 60's and older Fords.

The Ford 2000 was manufactured into the early '70's. 1700 hours is not very many hours. If it's a diesel, it should last you about forever. The one I used to run had two stage clutch, power steering, and a loader. It was a nice little tractor. ....

Thanks for the assist with specifics. Guess that's why they still are in general service. The two-stage clutch answers the live PTO question--it does. ....

Sorry about the conversion but I just read model 1700.
The 2000 will be 12 V and 1700 hours is just broken in for these tractors. I had a diesel 2000 here for a while and it had untold hours on it but just started easily after sitting nearly a year. ....

I have a 66 2110 lcggas tractor with 2300 hours. Its a hard pulling tractor, but the two stage clutches are weak for heavy brushhog use. I have to replace the clutch in mine.

IMO, the fords of that time period were built light compared to their horsepower and are not as heavy duty a unit as the IHs, Olivers, and Moline utility tractors of the same time period.
